Nazywam się Sebastian Bazylak i mam problemy z winem od wielu już lat. Moje z nim zmagania, namiętności i czułości opisuję na łamach tego blogu.

Wino traktuję jako odskocznię od zawodowej codzienności. Dzięki niemu poznaję świetnych ludzi, odwiedzam miejsca, których nigdy bym bez niego nie zobaczył, dostrzegam inne punkty widzenia, zgłębiam kulturę, historię i geografię. Same fajne rzeczy. The impressive winery and luxurious boutique hotel lay just beneath the picturesque village of Motovun.
The wines are great on their own terms. Long ageing gives them complexity and harmony which is difficult to find out in current, quick-to-market wine world. Time is a great contributor, allowing to reveal the great potential of Istrian terroir and grapes grown by Roxanich family.
A must see place if you’re travelling through breathtaking Istria.

Moreno Coronica started his winery more than 30 ye

Moreno Coronica started his winery more than 30 years ago in very turbulent times. From 2,5 hectares he grew to 22 hectars of vineyards located ob an Istrian seaside - just 3 kilometers from the Adriatic. Terrarosa, a soil reach in iron, is dominant, giving the wines specific mineral bite.
Moreno grows mostly local varieties: Malvazija Istarska and Teran with a small parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
He makes very classic wines that transfer terroir in a very precise way. Mya favorites: sparkling Malvazija Due, Gran Malvazija and Grand Teran though all wines are worth attention.

Big pleasure to meet Uwe Schiefer @uwe_h._schiefer owner of a Schiefer Pur winery in Burgendland. Uwe avoids making his Blaufränkisch too overdone, overly extracted, too big. The wines are finely balanced, expressing Eisenberg terroir - punchy, bold but not boring. One of the winemakers to watch.

VieVinum is always a treasure chest. You can taste all new release but winemakers often share something special. This time Patrizia and Erwin Sabathi generously poured famous Chardonnay Ried Possnitzberg Alte Reben in several consecutive vintages. Beautiful wines, powerful, elegant, placing themselves among best Chardonnays in the world. Wonderful experience. Southern Styria is famous for its Sauvignons, but believe me, Chardonnays are equally great.

Polish wine is becoming the next big thing. The last 10 years showed excellent progress in terms of quality and styles. @festiwalbialeczerwone held yesterday in Warsaw collected 50 winemakers from all over the country. Here are my picks.
@winnicabarczentewicz - very serious and wisely executed wines mostly from vinifera. Excellent Pinot Blancs, great Gewurztraminer but my favorite was Chardonnay with a touch of malo.
@dombliskowice - pioneers of organic and low intervention winemaking. @lechmill, restless veteran of Polish wine is one of the birightests people in the industry. And his Dzik, a macerated wine, is super well balanced and yummy.
Sylwia and Leopold from @skarpa_dobrska are probably the kindest people one the industry. And they do smashing Gruner and lovely Zweigelt.
Nestor from @winnicamoderna creates great whites of excellent purity, but my favorite was his Pinot Noir with excellent fruit definition.
Piotr of @bio_winnicawieliczka is a non-nonsense guy strongly believing in the terroir. Winery’s Jantar is a hard-core amber wine with huge tannic grip. One for the brave.
Maciej from @winnica_aris, together with Robert, do thrilling classic method sparklers. Their Traditio Cuvée Brut Nature is hell of a wine with it’s 22 months in lees.
Guillaume Dubois of @winnicagostchorze is French guy who thought Poles how to make sparklers. Always a good choice with very consistent quality each vintage.

Just spent few days in Polish rural side of Masuri

Just spent few days in Polish rural side of Masuria lake district with friends. Plenty of time on a fresh air as the weather was lovely - sun and over 24 Celsius all the time. But also we bbq a lot. And we had some nice wines to pair with all the lovely meals we prepared.
@champagne.brice Blanc de Noir - this is a super good, very well defined and pronounced Champagne.
@riffelwine Kirchberg Riesling was a great example of maturing Riesling witn all generosity and lovely petrol. Pet-nat was pure, refreshing and joyful.
@raventosiblanc de Nit - such a great, pristine Spanish rosé sparkler, with great definition of fruit and mineral depth.
@quintadechocapalha rosé made of Touriga Nacional was razor sharp, salty with nice grip. Went really well with shrimps with chorizo.
@arturoartuke carbonic red is always a banger for bbq. Fruit, nice substance and tons of fun.
@dluhegrefty Rufus showed itself is really good, with rose petals, dark cherries and raspberries.
@philippgrassl Rubin Carnuntum 2020 showed lovely, mature fruit with generous, fresh, lively fruit.
@franck_despagne Jamard Belcour Lussac Saint-Emilion was nicely classic, with cassis, leather, tobacco, bell pepper, medium weight, great freshness and tiny, juicy tannins. I really joyed it.
@domaine_vallot_coriancon Vinsobres did really, really well. All the Rhône’s generosity mixed with super freshness. Got it with lula kebab and it sung. Lovely wine with great zing even at 15% ABV.
@cocaifito Nutura is very spicy, lean, herbal and mineral wine. Needs a bit time to open, but is really good stuff (and nice label as well).
