Wino traktuję jako odskocznię od zawodowej codzienności. Another Grenache/Garnacha weekend and again, South Another Grenache/Garnacha weekend and again, South Africa and Spain in my glasses. 🇿🇦Wine by @sam.lambson of @minimalistwines is vertical, lightly extracted, with tart red fruit: cranberries and sour cherries, with gentle tannins, and salty minerality. The type you could slightly chill before serving. Yummy. 🇪🇸The Spanish one is by @rubendiazvit from Cebreros, mountaneus region west of Madrid. This one is also gently extracted, butbthe fruit is riper, wine is rounder, a bit richer but also very fresh thanks to elevation. Lovely wine, warm, supple and moreish. And great value too. I cracked open those two by @ralldonovan and @bodegasfrontonio and have plenty of fun with them. Both from old, highly elevated vineyards, spontaneously fermented and aged in concrete/clay. First glass is very promising - plenty of freshness, lightness and vibrancy. Good stuff indeed. Well, single vintage sherry is not something that Well, single vintage sherry is not something that they usually teach in textbooks, but hey, it was here far before soleras and criaderas and non-vintage style. One and only @sumimaseen took us for journey through the past and most recent of Jerez wines. And what a trip it was! So diverse and emotional with few actual thrills and epiphanies. Yup! @callejuela_bodega Manzanilla 7/11 was excellent, super elegant, smooth and rich. Punching way above its price weight. @bodegastradicion Palo Cortado de Añada 1998 was pronounced, nutty, spicy, with lovely wood influence, powerful and elegant, bursting from the glass with energy! @bodegaslustau 125 Anniversario Añada Oloroso Dulce 1996 oh what a wine it is! So complex I could describe all aromas and flavors for half a day. Seamless integration and somehow with north o 200 grams of sugar seems almost dry. Amazing stuff! @willyperezv Fino La Barajuela 2013 really speaks the terroir. Besides the yeasty, camomile there’s a strong flavor of wet chalk (so barajuela, a type of albariza soil). Bold but smooth, salty and yeasty, somewhat reductive. Lovely evening at @laskawosc_tytusa with a great, Lovely evening at @laskawosc_tytusa with a great, charming couple Brigitte and Richard from winery in Austrian Burgenland @joiseph.weingut Quite new estate, established in 2015, focuses on natural farming their 10 hectares and low intervention winemaking. They focus on varietals native to the region: Gruner Veltliner, Furmint (!), Muskat Ottonel, Neuburger, Zweigelt, and Blaufränkisch. Their low or now sulphuric wines are super juicy, very pleasant, joyful and clean. They need a bit of time to open as at the beginning they’re tight and closed, but after few minutes they really evolve and become pretty expressive. My favorits of yesterday evening were Frogosch GV 2021, with nice aromatics of honey, baked apples, roses, yellow plum, and with creamy,,quite rich texture with a touch of round tannins. Super tasty. Piroska 2022, a blend of Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, is a dark pink/light red claret kind of a wine with beautiful fruit expression of dark cherries, cranberry, red pepper; on the palate plenty of juiciness, lovely red fruit, a touch of tannins and lots of fun. Drink slightly chilled. Schiefenberg Blaufränkisch 2020 is an excellent, modern take on the varietal, with aromas of pines, allspice, cherry, raspberry; on a palate low alcohol but nice extraction, very good balance between red fruit and minerality, tiny tannins and lovely freshness to it. The impressive winery and luxurious boutique hotel lay just beneath the picturesque village of Motovun. The wines are great on their own terms. Long ageing gives them complexity and harmony which is difficult to find out in current, quick-to-market wine world. Time is a great contributor, allowing to reveal the great potential of Istrian terroir and grapes grown by Roxanich family. Moreno Coronica started his winery more than 30 ye Moreno Coronica started his winery more than 30 years ago in very turbulent times. From 2,5 hectares he grew to 22 hectars of vineyards located ob an Istrian seaside - just 3 kilometers from the Adriatic. Terrarosa, a soil reach in iron, is dominant, giving the wines specific mineral bite. Moreno grows mostly local varieties: Malvazija Istarska and Teran with a small parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. He makes very classic wines that transfer terroir in a very precise way. Mya favorites: sparkling Malvazija Due, Gran Malvazija and Grand Teran though all wines are worth attention.
