@domainelaroubine was one of my discoveries at 202 @domainelaroubine was one of my discoveries at 2025 Decouverts (thanks @gourdechaule8 for recommendation). It’s a domaine with some history already, starting in 1990s when Eric Ughetto, Parisien, moved to south of France. He bottled his first vintage in 2000, became Mayor of Gigondas and recently was joined by his son Leo in the cellar. The wines are profoundly southern, but on the lighter side of spectrum. Really finely balanced, poised and fresh. Leo claims these are his first wines he made himself. If so, the bright future ahead this modest young winemaker! Domaine La Roubine Vacqueyras 2023 A vibrant, juicy red showcasing joyful cherry fruit and subtle floral notes. Light, fine-grained tannins give it a tulip-like delicacy. Fresh and approachable, with a charming, fruit-forward character. ⸻ Domaine La Roubine Les Sables Gigondas 2023 Highly aromatic and expressive, with notes of rose petals, cherry, spiced raspberry, and earthy umami. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, with fine tannins, a touch of salinity, and a juicy, slightly meaty finish. ⸻ Domaine La Roubine Le Pont de Rambaud Gigondas 2023 Impressively fresh and lifted, with a sense of openness and clarity. Juicy and tactile on the palate, combining richness with a certain raw edge. Elegant structure, precise tannins, and remarkable presence. ⸻ Domaine La Roubine Les Demoiselles Gigondas 2023 Bold and expressive, packed with dark cherry and plum. Despite its power, the wine maintains a sense of lightness and flow. Juicy plum core, fine spicy tannins, and a balanced, energetic finish. Lightly extracted, with fine, tiny tannins, amazing drinkability - yet, beautifilly complex and elegant. Gour de Chaulé .7 “Le Gour” Gigondas 2023 A sweet, spicy nose of figs and blood orange jam. On the palate—slim, juicy, herbal and warmly spiced, with notes of strawberry, wild strawberry, rose, and raspberry. Lots of freshness and a dry, elegant finish. Utterly gourmande and beautifully balanced. Gour de Chaulé .8 “Numero Huit” Gigondas 2023 Floral and radiant—tulips, roses, strawberries, raspberries. Silky and smooth on the palate, with a savory, umami depth and elegant salinity. Fine, powdery tannins carry a long, graceful finish. Southern warmth with remarkable finesse. A quietly powerful wine. These wines combine varietal richness with finesse and freshness, showcasing the unique character of the appellation. Maybe not the most popular type of wine, but if made good, they’re really goddamn good. Beskides sweet and dry Muscat you should also try their beautiful rosé and bold reds. Rosé des Balmes Côtes du Rhône 2024 Strawberries, raspberries, cherries — a pure, juicy nose. Full and rich on the palate, yet fresh, with a spicy twist of blood orange on the finish. Les Balmes IGP Vaucluse 2024 Herbal, with mint and sage over a mineral backbone. Fresh and light, with a crisp green apple character. Doré des Bernardines IGP 2024 (Muscat) Subtle notes of linden blossom, elderflower, and peach. Very dry and taut on the palate, with a delicate bitterness on the finish. Les Balmes Côtes du Rhône 2023 (Grenache/Syrah 90/10) Deep dark fruit: berries, plums, a touch of spice. Remarkably fresh and clean.
